London Forum to Examine AI’s Impact on Universities

(MENAFN) A major international gathering focused on the future of higher education in the era of artificial intelligence is set to begin in London on Wednesday, bringing together experts and decision-makers from across the academic world.

The two-day event, titled the Conscious Futures in Higher Education Workshop, is being organized through a partnership involving institutions from Türkiye and Qatar, with the program taking place at Imperial College London.

According to reports, the workshop will convene university leaders, scholars, accreditation and quality assurance specialists, policymakers, and representatives of global organizations to explore how higher education institutions can adapt to the rapid advancement of AI technologies.

Discussions throughout the event will center on key challenges and opportunities facing universities, including the redesign of academic programs, changes to student assessment methods, the preservation of educational standards, and the broader responsibilities of institutions in an increasingly AI-driven environment.

The opening session is expected to feature participation from senior academic and institutional figures, including university administrators and representatives from international development organizations.

Public lectures, keynote presentations, and panel discussions are scheduled for the first day of the workshop, while the second day will focus on closed roundtable sessions aimed at developing practical recommendations and shared perspectives.

A significant outcome anticipated from the gathering is the release of the “Conscious Futures Imperial Declaration,” a document intended to establish common principles related to governance, academic integrity, data protection, and the development of future-ready skills.

The inaugural lecture will be delivered by a leading specialist in learning technologies and artificial intelligence. The presentation is expected to examine the growing influence of generative AI on education, the new competencies students will need in the future, and the ways assessment systems may need to evolve to reflect these changes.
